Ashley and Josh grew up just three short hours away from one another in Minnesota, but it took a college class trip to Mexico to bring them together. Immediately drawn to Ashley's ability to be silly and fun without sacrificing an inch of intelligence or wit, Josh knew before leaving Mexico that he wanted to spend the rest of his days with her.
Josh proposed to Ashley during their annual trip to the Boundary Waters. After secretly checking out her Pinterest account, he found her dream ring and while watching the wilderness sun set, Josh got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. It was magical and perfect and secluded.
After a few years and a few moves, they invited more than a few of their friends to Little Lazy Lodge, up in the Northwoods of Minnesota to join them in celebrating their commitment to each other. There they vowed to adventure with one another, to make a home together, and to always have the mak- ings of a decent cheese plate in their refrigerator.
When it came time for speeches, tears flowed and laughter erupted but all of them chimed in on the same chorus: Josh and Ashley make each other better. The intimate lodge buzzed with the knowledge that people were excited for the future of this couple and not just the chance to eat wood fired pizza in the forest. They danced the night away under the stars, the lights from the lodge and the blaze of an 11-foot tall bonfire illuminated the cele- bration. As the moon rose above the dance floor, the words that Josh's mom read at their ceremony from the poem "The Art of Marriage" by Wilfred Peterson came to mind, "It is a common search for the good and the beautiful." And that night was truly good and beautiful.
