Kim and Tim grew up in the same town, but their love story didn't begin until 2013 when they were in college. Kim was a barista at Caribou Coffee and Tim was a regular customer. He would come to study almost every day, and over time their conversations grew longer and longer. One day he summoned the courage to ask for her number, and the rest is history.
Tim pulled out all the stops for the proposal during a trip to Mexico several years later. During a romantic dinner for two in a cave filled with candles and flower petals, dessert was served in a covered platter. Upon lifting the lid, the words "Marry Me" were revealed, spelled out in chocolate with the ring in the center. After a short, but sweet speech, Tim got down on one knee and asked Kim to marry him. The sweetest part of the story? Tim always plans a beautiful dinner for Kim when they go on a trip, so she didn't suspect anything was out of the ordinary until she saw the words on the platter.
They were both born and raised in Duluth, so it was an easy choice when deciding where to get married. Lake Superior is such an important element of life in Duluth, so having their reception by the lake just made sense. Pier B Resort has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake, along with an outdoor patio so guests could enjoy time outside. It was the perfect fit for their elegant reception with florals in burgundy and dusty pinks, chandeliers, and gold accents.
Kim's advice to couples planning their wedding is to take a moment after dinner to sneak away and observe the room full of family and friends who are there to support you.
